Kashmir, May 7, 2025 – The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, executing precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a decisive response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 people, including 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha played pivotal roles in overseeing the operation, which has been hailed as a tribute to victims like Shubham Dwivedi, whose widow, Aishanya Dwivedi, expressed gratitude for the action.
The Ministry of Defence announced at 1:44 AM, “The Indian Armed Forces conducted ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK responsible for orchestrating attacks against India.” The strikes, described as “focused and non-escalatory,” avoided Pakistani military installations, zeroing in on terror facilities linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Key targets included Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Sialkot, hit with precision missiles and loitering munitions.
This historic tri-service operation, the first joint action against Pakistan since 1971, saw the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force working in seamless coordination. PM Modi, who monitored developments from a war room through the night, granted the forces complete operational freedom to deliver a strong message following the Pahalgam attack. LG Manoj Sinha, closely involved in the response, emphasised the need for a robust counter-terrorism strategy, “The Pahalgam attack was an assault on our nation’s soul. Operation Sindoor ensures justice for our people.”
The Pahalgam attack, which claimed lives including that of Shubham Dwivedi, a tourist targeted for his religious identity, sparked nationwide outrage. Aishanya Dwivedi, Shubham’s widow, thanked PM Modi, saying, “I am deeply grateful to PM Narendra Modi for taking revenge for my husband’s death. This is the real tribute to him. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today.” She also praised LG Manoj Sinha’s support for victims’ families, noting his commitment to their welfare.
PM Narendra Modi’s leadership has drawn widespread praise, with Aishanya crediting him for upholding her family’s trust. LG Manoj Sinha, who visited Pahalgam post-attack and met with affected families, reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, assuring swift action. Their combined efforts culminated in Operation Sindoor, seen as a powerful statement against cross-border terror.
Pakistan, however, condemned the strikes, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calling them an “act of war” and alleging civilian targets were hit, claims India dismissed as baseless. Post-operation, Pakistan violated a ceasefire in Bhimber Gali, prompting a measured Indian response. Northern airports, including Srinagar and Jammu, remain on high alert.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed global counterparts, underscoring India’s restraint in targeting only terror infrastructure. A media briefing is scheduled for 10:00 AM today to provide further details.
Operation Sindoor reflects the resolve of PM Narendra Modi and LG Manoj Sinha to combat terrorism, offering solace to families . As Aishanya stated, the operation ensures her husband’s sacrifice endures as a symbol of India’s unyielding fight for justice.
