Jammu, July 14, 2025 – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, inaugurated a langar organised by the Chamber of Commerce at Saraswati Dham, Jammu, in support of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025. The initiative, aimed at providing free meals to pilgrims, underscores the vital role of civil society in ensuring a seamless and harmonious pilgrimage experience.During the inauguration, IGP Tuti commended the volunteers for their tireless efforts in serving the yatris, emphasising the importance of community-driven initiatives in facilitating the annual pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine.
The langar, set up opposite the Saraswati Dham Registration Centre, is part of a broader effort to support the thousands of devotees undertaking the arduous journey to the 3,880-metre-high shrine in south Kashmir.The IGP highlighted the collaborative spirit between the administration, security forces, and civil society, noting that such efforts are crucial for maintaining peace and ensuring a smooth yatra.
“The dedication of volunteers and organisations like the Chamber of Commerce exemplifies the spirit of unity and service, making the Amarnath Yatra a truly harmonious experience,” he said.The Amarnath Yatra 2025, which began on July 3, has already seen over 2 lakh pilgrims, with robust arrangements in place, including multi-tier security, medical camps, and langar services across Jammu and Kashmir. The Saraswati Dham langar, supported by the Chamber of Commerce, is one of many such facilities providing free meals to yatris at key locations, including the Jammu base camp and along the National Highway. These efforts align with the broader goals of #CleanAmarnathYatra and #SwachhYatra, promoting both spiritual fulfillment and environmental consciousness.
The administration, in coordination with organisations like the Shree Amaranth Welfare Society, has also ensured facilities such as RFID counters, medical support, and secure lodging at Saraswati Dham. The IGP’s visit included an inspection of these arrangements, where he praised the staff for their round-the-clock service.
This initiative reflects the collective commitment to making the Amarnath Yatra 2025 a safe, inclusive, and spiritually enriching journey. Pilgrims have expressed gratitude for the hospitality and support, further highlighting the success of community-driven efforts in fostering a #HarmoniousYatra.
