ICDS Kishtwar launches “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” training

KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 26: The Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) today launched an extensive training program for Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) under the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative in Kishtwar district. The initiative aims to strengthen the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) framework, focusing on the holistic development of children in the region.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan was the chief guest at the launch event. In his address, he emphasized the critical role of Anganwadi Workers in the overall development of children and their importance as frontline workers for women empowerment in the district.

The program commenced with the National Anthem, followed by the Constitution Day pledge. District Programme Officer (DPO) Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of integrating education with nutrition to ensure the overall well-being of children aged 0–6 years. He emphasized that the initiative mirrors the care and attention provided by a mother, fostering physical, mental, and emotional growth in children.

Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) also shared their insights, stressing the importance of comprehensive child development in the early years. The training, which will run from November 26 to December 22, 2024, aims to equip Anganwadi Workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate ECCE components with nutrition and care services at their centers.

Key topics covered in the training sessions include innovative teaching methods, child nutrition, early learning strategies, and effective communication techniques. Supervisors and Master Trainers, who recently underwent specialized training in Chandigarh, will guide the Anganwadi Workers throughout the program.
