Horticulture Department organises Farmers’ interaction program at Border Pyt. Palanwalla

JAMMU, JULY 04: The Department of Horticulture Jammu organized a one-day farmers’ interaction programme, here today in the border area of Panchayat Palanwalla-Khour
Director Horticulture Jammu Chaman Lal Sharma chaired the event in presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Rakesh Kotwal, MCC Uttam Lal and Horticulture Development Officer Khour, Amit Saraf. A large number of participants, with a notable presence of women and unemployed youth, attended the event underscoring the community’s keen interest in agricultural development.
The Director highlighted central and UT Government-sponsored schemes available to farmers, with a special focus on the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). He elaborated on the benefits these schemes offer, particularly to unemployed youth and women farmers. By setting up small-scale fruit processing units and forming self-help groups, farmers can achieve self-reliance and create employment opportunities within their communities.
He also stressed the importance of these initiatives in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing the economic stability of farmers. “The HADP is designed to provide comprehensive support, enabling farmers to harness modern techniques and resources for better productivity and profitability,” he said.
During the programme, the Director also handed over keys of Tractors to the beneficiaries under HADP (Farm Mechanization & Automation).
Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Rakesh Kotwal urged farmers, particularly the educated youth to come forward and avail benefits from the schemes under HADP to enhance the production and increase income under the Horticulture sector. He also emphasized the ease and accessibility of the online HADP portal, encouraging farmers to make full use of the available resources to enhance their horticultural practices.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Horticulture Development Officer Khour, Amit Saraf. He also expressed gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to supporting the farming community.
