Jammu, December 6: The 62nd Annual Raising Day of Homeguards & Civil Defence was celebrated the SDRF 2nd Battalion Headquarters, Gulshan Ground, Jammu. The event was attended by Umesh Kumar, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, who extended his greetings to the Jawans and emphasized the vital role of Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers as first responders during disasters. He also acknowledged their unwavering commitment and the significant contributions made by officers and personnel over the past year.
During the ceremony, messages from the President of India, the Prime Minister of India, the Union Home Minister, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, and senior government officials were read out to mark the occasion.
The event was attended by several distinguished officers, including Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu, Zahid Naseem Manhas; Director of Homeguards Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav; and Atul Sharma, Staff Officer to the Commandant General HG/CD & SDRF J&K. Civil Defence wardens and Homeguards also participated in the function, alongside officials from the Directorate of HG/CD & SDRF J&K.
In addition to the Jammu celebration, the Annual Raising Day was also observed in Srinagar, where SSP and Commandant SDRF 1st Battalion Srinagar, Masroor Ahmad Mir, was the chief guest. The wardens and volunteers of Civil Defence and Homeguards from the Kashmir region, along with the officers and officials of HG/CD & SDRF Kashmir, were also present.
The welcome address was delivered by Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu, Anita Pawar. The vote of thanks was presented by Dy.SP, Principal CTI HG/CD Kotbhalwal Jammu, Dev Raj, who expressed gratitude to all field officers for their participation and reiterated the dedication of Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers in continuing their service with commitment in the years ahead.
The celebration concluded with a working lunch, served to guests and participants.
