KASHMIR,May 2, 2025 – Himanshi Narwal, widow of Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025, has made an emotional appeal for peace and unity. The attack, claiming 26 lives, including Lieutenant Narwal, has fueled nationwide outrage and India-Pakistan tensions. Amid reports of harassment against Muslims and Kashmiris, Himanshi’s call for harmony resonates deeply.
Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, 26, was honeymooning with Himanshi in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow when terrorists targeted Hindu tourists, killing him instantly after confirming his religion. Married on April 16 in Mussoorie, the couple faced a 1.5-hour delay reaching a hospital. The attack killed 25 tourists and a pony rider, Adil Hussain Shah. The four terrorists remain at large in South Kashmir’s forests, with India accusing Pakistan of involvement, a claim Islamabad denies.
On May 1, 2025, during a blood donation camp in Karnal marking Lieutenant Narwal’s 27th birthday, Himanshi urged against targeting Muslims or Kashmiris. “We want peace and only peace. Of course, we want justice,” she said, addressing rising retaliatory violence. Organized by NIFAA, the camp saw participation from locals, leaders, and a Bangalore couple. Himanshi, a Gurugram PhD scholar, paid floral tributes, joined by Narwal’s sister, Srishti. His funeral on April 23 drew thousands, with military honours at Delhi’s airport.
Himanshi’s appeal for justice without communal retribution—“People who have done wrong to him should be punished”—sparks hope. The Karnal camp, attended by Haryana Speaker Kalyan and Minister Sharma, symbolised unity. Leaders like Mayawati echoed calls for political cohesion.
