Kashmir,January 16, 2026- Qul’s high-density orchard initiative is revolutionising Kashmir’s agriculture, offering small farmers faster incomes, improved productivity, and long-term financial stability. By adopting modern horticultural practices, the project is enhancing yield per acre and enabling farmers to earn better returns on their produce.
Officials highlighted that high-density orchards not only boost economic resilience but also promote sustainable agricultural development in Jammu & Kashmir. The approach focuses on planting apple and other fruit varieties closer together, optimising land use, and reducing the time required for trees to bear fruit.
Small-scale farmers involved in the initiative are witnessing increased profits and improved livelihoods. The program also provides technical support, training, and guidance on modern cultivation techniques, pest management, and high-quality produce marketing, ensuring that farmers maximise their returns while maintaining ecological balance.
Experts say that this model can serve as a blueprint for modernising horticulture across the region, empowering farmers economically and contributing to rural development and agricultural sustainability in J&K.
