Ramban, December 13:The Animal Husbandry Department organised a series of one-day demonstration-cum-awareness camps across various locations in Ramban district, aimed at educating dairy farmers on key government schemes and best practices in livestock management. The camps were held in Banihal, Maho Mangit, Chanderkote, Gool, and Gandhri under the supervision of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Dr. Suhail Kawoosa.
The primary goal of these camps was to raise awareness about flagship initiatives such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Scheme, and the National Livestock Mission. Dr. Kawoosa emphasized the vital role of the livestock sector in providing nutritious food, generating employment opportunities, and supporting the livelihoods of landless, small, and marginal farmers, particularly women in rural areas.
Experts from the department conducted training sessions on various aspects of livestock management, including value addition of fodder, milk, and poultry meat. Participants were also educated on scientific methods of dairy cattle rearing aimed at increasing milk production and ensuring livestock health through effective vaccination programs.
As part of the awareness initiative, the department distributed de-worming medicines and mineral mixtures to the farmers to promote better livestock health and productivity.
