Srinagar, August 13, 2025 – The Kashmir Valley resonated with vibrant displays of patriotism as thousands participated in Har Ghar Tiranga rallies across all districts, marking the fourth edition of the campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. From Srinagar’s scenic Dal Lake to remote areas like Gurez, the Indian tricolour painted towns and villages in saffron, white, and green, symbolizing unity and national pride ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day.A Grand Showcase of UnityOn August 12, a mega Tiranga Rally in Srinagar, flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden along Dal Lake’s Boulevard Road, drew over 5,000 participants, including students, locals, and officials. The event featured a shikara rally adorned with tricolour decorations, BSF band performances, and tricolour balloon releases, amplifying the festive spirit. LG Sinha described the tricolour as “my Dharma, my strength, my heartbeat,” urging citizens to contribute to a prosperous J&K.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, also in attendance, called the tricolour a symbol of India’s identity, emphasizing secularism and brotherhood. “Let’s take the flag to greater heights by respecting its dignity,” he said.
District-Wide CelebrationsAcross Kashmir, district administrations organized vibrant rallies:Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and SSP Nikhil Borkar led a rally from Sports Stadium to Behisht-e-Zehra Park, with cultural performances and patriotic songs. The DC hailed the campaign as a “people’s movement” fostering emotional bonds with India’s independence journey.
Ganderbal: DC Jatin Kishore’s rally from Mini Secretariat to Qamaria Ground saw thousands, including students, chanting patriotic slogans. Tiranga stalls showcased local products, aligning with the Viksit Bharat vision.
Pulwama: DC Dr. Basharat Qayoom and SSP P.D. Nitya led a rally honoring martyrs’ families, featuring a bike rally and Tiranga Mela with SHG products. Participants took the Viksit Bharat Pledge for 2047.
Kupwara: DC Shrikant Suse’s rally culminated at Martyr Memorial Regipora, with wreath-laying ceremonies symbolizing respect for freedom fighters.
Shopian: Over 10,000 joined DC Shishir Gupta’s rally, followed by a Tiranga concert at Aglar Fruit Mandi, showcasing local talent.
Bandipora: Gurez Valley hosted rallies, painting competitions, and cultural events, reflecting creative patriotism.
