Srinagar, April 4, 2026- The picturesque hill station of Gulmarg witnessed fresh snowfall, with higher reaches including Apharwat Peak and Kongdoori receiving significant accumulation, transforming the region into a winter wonderland.
According to local officials, the snowfall was particularly intense in upper altitudes, while lower areas experienced a mix of rain and light snow. The fresh spell has led to a noticeable drop in temperatures, enhancing the scenic beauty of the tourist destination.
Tourists and visitors expressed excitement as the snowfall added to Gulmarg’s charm, offering ideal conditions for snow-related activities. However, authorities have advised caution, especially in higher reaches, in view of slippery conditions and weather advisories.
An avalanche warning has also been issued in parts of Baramulla district for areas above 2800 meters, urging travelers and locals to restrict movement and follow safety guidelines.
The fresh snowfall is expected to boost tourism in Gulmarg, which remains one of the most sought-after destinations in Jammu and Kashmir during both winter and early spring seasons.
