Doda, December 26,2025 — Under the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Green Drive, the Department of Social Forestry on Thursday organised a plantation drive at the DC Office Complex, Doda, reinforcing the Union Territory’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The initiative was led by Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh (IAS), who planted saplings on the occasion and emphasised the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in protecting and preserving the environment. He underlined the importance of increasing green cover to combat climate change and ensure ecological balance.
Officials from various government departments participated in the drive, demonstrating a shared commitment towards building a greener and cleaner Doda. The plantation drive aimed to raise awareness about the significance of tree plantation and encourage community participation in environmental protection efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, officials from the Department of Social Forestry highlighted that such drives are being conducted across the district as part of the larger J&K Green Drive, which focuses on afforestation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable use of natural resources.
The district administration urged citizens to actively support environmental initiatives and contribute towards safeguarding the region’s natural heritage for future generations.
