Grand Ganga Aarti celebrated at Teetwal, Kashmir on the banks of Kishenganga river

Teetwal, Kashmir, April 2, 2025 – A grand Ganga Aarti was performed on the serene banks of the Kishenganga River at Teetwal, near the Line of Control in Kashmir, marking a significant spiritual and cultural event. Organised by the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir on the eve of Navratras, the ceremony drew hundreds of devotees, including Kashmiri Pandits and pilgrims from across India, to the Swami Nand Lal Ghat, opposite the historic Sharda Temple.

The event, held for the first time in 75 years at this newly constructed ghat, symbolised a revival of religious traditions in the region. The Kishenganga River, which forms a natural boundary between Teetwal and Chiliana in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir , provided a picturesque backdrop as participants chanted hymns and offered prayers during the aarti. The ceremony not only highlighted the spiritual significance of the location but also promoted religious and border tourism in the Kashmir Valley.

The Save Sharda Committee emphasized the need for further development of the ghat, including additional construction and facilities like changing rooms to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims. The event was attended by nearly 100 devotees, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with their cultural roots in this border area.

This Ganga Aarti at Teetwal underscores the region’s rich heritage and its potential as a spiritual destination, fostering unity and devotion among participants against the backdrop of the LoC.
