We did not have enough money to pay for my illness but with the Golden Card my treatment has been free. Heena said her husband was a daily wage worker and whatever he could earn in one day they used to spend on food for that day. We are realising that this scheme is very good for poor people, said Heena’s husband. In a private hospital, our expenses would have been more than 1 lakh rupees. We are daily wage workers. Sometimes we have work, on some days there is no work. Besides, whatever money is saved we spend it on children so that leaves nothing for our medical health. Had the card not been there the patient could have died of pain. That is why we are extremely grateful to the government for giving us this Ayushman Bharat Golden Card scheme. We should get these cards made timely so that they can work for us when the time comes and we will not have to beg for money. The treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is free so it is a very good scheme, Heena’s husband said. Another patient said that for 4 years he had been on dialysis. In a private hospital the cost is Rs 4000. Here in a government hospital, the treatment is free. All the medicines we get for free. This is indeed a good scheme, said the kidney patient. I would have died by now, the Golden Card has saved me. Another patient’s caregiver said that the private hospital charges were too costly. Then someone said use the Golden Card and the moment you go inside till the time you come out healed no expenses will be upon you and that was true. This message is for those who do not yet possess a Golden Card, get it made, it is very beneficial.
