Srinagar, November 10,2025 – In a landmark achievement for Jammu and Kashmir’s medical community, Dr S. Muhammad Salim Khan, Professor and Head of Community Medicine at Government Medical College Srinagar, has been conferred with the esteemed Fellowship of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS) for 2025.
The prestigious honour was presented during the 65th Annual National Conference of the Academy (NAMSCON 2025) held at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. This recognition highlights Dr Khan’s outstanding contributions to medical education, research, and public health in the region.
Dr Khan’s career spans decades of academic excellence, research innovation, and leadership in public health initiatives. He has been instrumental in organising national-level conferences, workshops, and research programs at GMC Srinagar. His work includes over 150 research publications in reputed journals and multiple multi-centric studies, including vaccine trials.
Commenting on the recognition, Dr Khan expressed his gratitude, saying, “This fellowship is not only a personal achievement but also a reflection of the dedication of my colleagues, residents, and the entire GMC Srinagar family.
