Ganderbal Police Use Cricket to Honour Martyrs and Bring Youth Together. Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament is an initiative by the District Police Ganderbal to let the talent and skills in youth shine out, said SSP Ganderbal Ragav S. In the Police fraternity, games and sports play a very important role. Nothing like sports for inculcating discipline, physical fitness and team spirit. All of you should think about sports and not head in wrong directions and do it for society, SSP Ganderbal said. The Ganderbal Police, under their Civic Action Programme, inaugurated the Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament at Sheikh-ul-Aalam Stadium in Kangan. SSP Ganderbal, Shri Ragav S., emphasised the role of sports in promoting physical and mental well-being, steering youth away from negative influences. Eight teams from across the district are participating, providing local youth an opportunity to showcase their talent and fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The youth in Ganderbal were happy and said that such like minded govt should encourage us to play football, volleyball and other games. It will keep us engaged and deter us from involving in drugs or bad activities. The engagement in sports will keep us physically and mentally fit and give us an opportunity to completely immerse in sports as a career.
