From IFFI with love: Vidhu Vinod Chopra calls filmmakers to Kashmir

Kashmir,November 22, 2025-Veteran filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra made a heartfelt appeal at the 56th International Film Festival of India, urging Indian and international filmmakers to bring their film crews to Kashmir, calling the Valley one of the most cinematic landscapes in the world.

Addressing a packed audience during a red-carpet interaction in Goa, Chopra said Kashmir remains unmatched in its natural beauty, cultural depth and storytelling potential. He emphasised that the region offers filmmakers a rich visual palette—from snow-clad mountains and serene valleys to vibrant local traditions—making it a dream destination for shooting.

Chopra, who has roots in Kashmir and has showcased the region in several of his films, highlighted the improving infrastructure and supportive policies that are encouraging filmmakers to return to the Valley. He noted that the revival of film tourism is not only strengthening the local economy but also reconnecting cinema with authentic regional narratives.

Industry experts at IFFI echoed his sentiments, saying that Kashmir is once again emerging as a favourite for directors seeking realism, grandeur and emotional depth. With more film projects scheduled in the coming year, the Valley is steadily regaining its place on the cinematic map.
