Bandipora, October 6,2025: The Razdan Top, the gateway connecting Gurez Valley with Bandipora district, witnessed around three inches of fresh snowfall on Monday, bringing a noticeable dip in temperatures across the higher reaches of North Kashmir.
The early spell of snowfall transformed the scenic mountain pass into a white wonder, delighting locals and travellers while also marking the onset of colder weather conditions in the region. However, the snowfall led to slippery road conditions, prompting authorities to advise caution for vehicular movement along the Bandipora–Gurez road.
Officials from the Meteorological Department confirmed that light to moderate snowfall was recorded in several higher-altitude areas of the valley, with more precipitation likely in the coming days due to a fresh western disturbance.
The Razdan Top, situated at an elevation of about 11,700 feet, often receives the season’s first snowfall before the onset of winter, temporarily disrupting road connectivity between Gurez Valley and the rest of Kashmir.
Residents in the area welcomed the fresh spell, viewing it as a sign of the approaching winter season, while hoteliers and tourism operators expressed hope that the snowfall would boost winter tourism in Gurez.
