GANDERBAL, May 20, 2025-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah laid the foundation stone for a new Science Block at the Government College of Engineering and Technology in Safapora, Ganderbal, marking a significant step toward enhancing technical education in the region. The initiative, part of the #NashaMuktJammuKashmirAbhiyan campaign, underscores the government’s commitment to empowering youth through education and skill development for a drug-free, prosperous society.
The new Science Block at GCET Safapora is designed to provide state-of-the-art facilities, fostering innovation and technical expertise among students. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasis.ed the pivotal role of technology in modern entrepreneurship, stating, “Technology is the backbone of modern entrepreneurship—our youth must be equipped to lead the future.” The project aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands, preparing students for careers in engineering, technology, and innovation-driven fields.
The ceremony was attended by faculty members, students, and local dignitaries, who highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in nurturing youth leadership and combating social challenges like drug abuse. The Science Block will feature advanced laboratories, research facilities, and interactive learning spaces to support hands-on training and cutting-edge research, aligning with the region’s vision for a knowledge-based economy.
This development follows other regional efforts, such as awareness programs at Government Higher Secondary School, D K Marg, Kulgam, to promote a healthier, drug-free society. The GCET Safapora initiative is expected to inspire similar projects, reinforcing Jammu and Kashmir’s focus on technical education, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.
