Former Prime Minister Shri H.D. Deve Gowda recently visited the Jyesteshwara Shiva Temple in Srinagar, a long-cherished dream of his. Despite being 91 years old, he demonstrated remarkable determination by climbing the 243 steep steps leading to the ancient temple. His visit was a significant spiritual journey, where he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police for their dedicated service in maintaining security in the region. During his visit to Kashmir, Deve Gowda also inspected the Srinagar-Baramulla railway line, a key infrastructure project that he had approved during his tenure as Prime Minister. The former PM became nostalgic as he revisited the Uri Hydro-electric Project, reflecting on the developments he had initiated years ago. In his remarks, Deve Gowda praised the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, acknowledging their effective efforts in curbing terrorism and restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised that the common people of the region are now happier and have finally found peace, thanks to the decisive actions taken by the central government. This visit to Kashmir was not just a personal journey for the former Prime Minister, but also a poignant reflection on the progress made in the region, blending his spiritual fulfillment with a deep appreciation for the ongoing development and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
