Flash floods disrupt drinking water supply in Poonch; water tankers deployed amid power outage

Poonch, July 23,2026- Authorities have deployed water tankers across affected areas of Poonch district after a power outage triggered by flash floods disrupted the drinking water supply, leaving several localities without access to piped water.

The flash floods damaged electricity infrastructure, affecting the operation of water pumping stations and interrupting the regular supply of potable water. In response, the district administration has mobilized water tankers to ensure residents receive safe drinking water while restoration work is underway.

Officials said emergency teams are working to restore power and repair damaged infrastructure at the earliest. Water tankers have been strategically deployed to meet the immediate needs of affected households, with priority being given to the worst-hit areas.

The administration has appealed to residents to use water judiciously and cooperate with officials until normal water supply is restored. Authorities are also closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to minimize disruptions caused by the recent heavy rainfall and flash floods.

The relief effort forms part of the ongoing emergency response to safeguard public health and ensure the availability of essential services in the flood-affected district.
