Srinagar, October 18,2025: In a breakthrough for regional trade and logistics, the first freight train with industrial salt from Gujarat reached Kashmir.
The arrival of the freight train marks a significant step towards improving supply chains and trade connectivity between Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). The initiative will improve industrial inputs, lower transport costs, and improve access to raw materials of strategic importance in the region.
The officials noted that the arrival of the rail is a testament to the initiative of the government towards facilitating smooth logistics, supporting industries in the region, and integrating regional markets. It is considered a serious attempt to improve economic growth, trade efficiency, and industrial development in Kashmir.
