Kashmir Ahead

First-ever full CCTV surveillance deployed on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route by Anantnag police

Anantnag, July 17,2026- In a landmark initiative to strengthen security during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, the Anantnag Police, through the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR), Pahalgam, have established comprehensive CCTV surveillance covering the entire pilgrimage route from Anantnag to the Holy Cave Shrine, including the Baltal axis.

The move marks the first time in the history of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra that the entire Yatra route has been brought under an integrated CCTV surveillance network, significantly enhancing real-time monitoring, situational awareness, and emergency response capabilities.

The advanced surveillance system enables security personnel to continuously monitor pilgrim movement, traffic flow, and sensitive locations along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Live feeds from strategically installed CCTV cameras are being monitored at the Joint Police Control Room in Pahalgam, allowing authorities to respond swiftly to any security or emergency situation.

The initiative is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s multi-layered security strategy aimed at ensuring a safe, secure, and seamless pilgrimage for lakhs of devotees undertaking the annual yatra to the holy cave shrine of Baba Barfani.

The deployment complements the extensive security arrangements already in place, including surveillance technology, access control, traffic regulation, disaster response mechanisms, and coordination among multiple security agencies.

Officials said the enhanced CCTV coverage will not only strengthen security but also improve crowd management, facilitate quicker emergency response, and contribute to the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, one of India’s largest annual pilgrimages.
