Faith Over Fear: Devotees Embark on Amarnath Yatra with Unshaken Devotion

Over 4,000 devotees of Lord Shiva set out in the first batch of the sacred Amarnath Yatra, undertaking a soul-stirring journey to receive the divine blessings of Baba Barfani. From every corner of India, pilgrims have converged on Jammu, turning the city into a vibrant centre of devotion and unity. Their chants of “Bam Bam Bhole” echo through the air, undeterred by fear, and filled with unwavering faith. The Jammu & Kashmir administration, under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has left no stone unturned to ensure the safety, comfort, and spiritual fulfillment of the yatris. The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), in coordination with civil and security agencies, has implemented comprehensive arrangements this year. From sanitation and health services to transportation, communication, and accommodation, the pilgrimage has been fortified with state-of-the-art support systems. Security remains a key priority. The J&K Police and central paramilitary forces have established a robust, multi-layered security grid across the yatra route. As one devotee said, “The security is so tight that even a bird cannot flap its wings unnoticed.” This confidence in the system is a testament to the dedication and coordination of the administration and security agencies. LG Manoj Sinha’s personal involvement, from high-level reviews to on-ground inspections, has significantly boosted the morale of officials and pilgrims alike. This year’s yatra carries deep emotional and symbolic weight. Despite past terror threats and concerns, the number of pilgrims has not decreased. In fact, it has grown—proving that faith is stronger than fear. Pilgrims have shown great resolve, and the atmosphere is charged with spiritual excitement. Several devotees remarked on the notable transformation in infrastructure and services compared to previous years. The enhanced amenities—medical camps, langars, resting facilities, and help centres—reflect the combined effort of central and state leadership, as well as the devotion of volunteers and support staff.
