Jammu, October 28,2025: Thousands of devotees thronged the banks of the River Tawi in Jammu on Monday evening to offer ‘Arghya’ to the setting sun, marking the culmination of the Chhath Puja celebrations with great devotion and fervour. The sacred festival, dedicated to Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, witnessed vibrant participation from devotees, who observed traditional rituals while praying for prosperity, health, and happiness.
Dressed in colourful attire, men, women, and children gathered at the ghats of River Tawi, carrying bamboo baskets filled with fruits, sugarcane, and thekua — traditional offerings for the Sun God. The atmosphere was filled with devotional songs, chants, and the fragrance of incense, creating a deeply spiritual and festive mood across the region.
Local administration and volunteers had made elaborate arrangements for cleanliness, security, and lighting along the riverbanks to ensure smooth conduct of the rituals. The celebration will conclude tomorrow morning with devotees offering ‘Usha Arghya’ (prayers to the rising sun) to mark the end of the four-day-long Chhath Puja festival.
