Srinagar, October 25 2025: The Kashmir handicrafts sector is gearing up for a significant export revival, driven by adherence to global compliance and international quality standards. Artisans across the region are aligning their processes to meet global market requirements, ensuring products maintain both authenticity and competitiveness.
Officials from the handicrafts department emphasised that adherence to international certifications and sustainable production practices will help boost the reach of Kashmir’s traditional products, including Pashmina shawls, Kashmiri carpets, papier-mâché, and embroidery. “With global compliance in place, we are confident that the world will rediscover the richness of Kashmir handicrafts,” said a senior official.
To further enhance export potential, the government plans to organise trade fairs and international exhibitions, giving artisans the platform to showcase their craftsmanship. Experts note that modernised production and global standard compliance can significantly increase Kashmir handicrafts exports while preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
