Srinagar, November 12,2025: The Department of Economics, University of Kashmir, on Tuesday inaugurated the weeklong ‘ECON Fest 2025’, a vibrant celebration of learning, innovation, and youth engagement aimed at promoting dialogue on key economic and developmental issues.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the university’s Gandhi Bhawan auditorium, witnessed participation from students, scholars, and faculty members across various disciplines. The event was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing critical thinking and research-driven learning among students.
“Economics is not just about numbers—it’s about understanding society, policy, and progress. The ECON Fest 2025 provides an opportunity for young minds to debate, innovate, and collaborate on real-world challenges,” Prof. Khan said in her address.
Throughout the week, the fest will host a series of seminars, debates, quizzes, paper presentations, panel discussions, and cultural events, focusing on themes like sustainable growth, digital economy, and entrepreneurship.
Faculty Coordinator Dr. Irfan Ahmed said the fest aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, encouraging students to explore creative solutions to modern economic problems.
Participants expressed excitement over the diverse lineup of activities and the opportunity to interact with industry experts, economists, and researchers.
The ECON Fest 2025 is part of the university’s broader vision to foster innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and youth leadership in Jammu and Kashmir’s academic ecosystem.
