Kashmir October 18,2025 : In a deeply religious moment, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha conducted prayers on the holy remains of Lord Buddha, which were airlifted from India and consecrated at Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery — the chief Buddhist monastery in Elista, Republic of Kalmykia.
During the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor also prayed to receive blessings from Lord Buddha for peace, harmony, and prosperity of everyone. He added that the sacred presence of the relics in Elista signifies India’s timelessly rich spiritual heritage and a bridge of faith and friendship between the peoples of India and Russia.
“The Lord Buddha’s teachings are beyond borders and continue to lead mankind to tolerance, compassion, and light,” the LG said, highlighting the timelessness of the Middle Path and the strategic position that nations with mutual respect take in creating global peace.
The Elista relic enshrinement is another major milestone in Buddhist diplomacy further enhancing cultural and spiritual exchange between the two countries.
