KATHUA, 19 AUGUST 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today visited the relief camp established at SIDCO Ghati Industrial Estate, Kathua to review arrangements for families affected by the recent cloudburst.
During the visit, the Dy CM interacted with displaced families, listened to their concerns, and assured them of comprehensive government support. “The government stands shoulder to shoulder with the affected families in this hour of crisis. Every possible measure will be taken to ensure immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation,” he said while addressing victims at the relief camp.
He also inspected the nearby bridge connecting Ghati villages, damaged during the cloudburst, and directed authorities to commence immediate restoration work. “Restoration of connectivity is the top priority, and the administration has been directed to execute works on war footing,” he asserted.
The Deputy Chief Minister then visited Military Hospital Pathankot, inquiring about the well-being of the injured and appreciating the timely medical response. He instructed the staff to provide the best possible care until full recovery. Later, he visited Government Medical College Kathua, meeting families affected by cloudbursts and flash floods in Jakhole and Janglote, assuring prompt assistance, medical care, and rehabilitation support.
“The safety and well-being of the people is our foremost concern. The government will leave no stone unturned in providing relief and rebuilding damaged infrastructure,” Choudhary reaffirmed. He also directed the district administration to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of all calamity-hit areas to ensure timely relief to affected populations.
