Srinagar, July 28 — In a strong message aimed at safeguarding the hard-earned calm in the region, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said that fringe elements must not be allowed to disrupt the peace and progress of Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking during an interaction with youth and local representatives in Srinagar, the Minister emphasised the Centre’s commitment to ensuring that development, dialogue, and democracy remain the cornerstones of the region’s future.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown great resilience. The time has come to protect that peace from disruptive elements who thrive on instability,” Rijiju said.
The Minister acknowledged the positive change witnessed across Kashmir Valley in recent years — from increased tourism and youth participation to infrastructural projects and a rise in employment opportunities. He urged citizens to remain united against divisive forces that seek to derail the path of Viksit Jammu & Kashmir.
He also called upon the youth to become guardians of harmony, saying, “Your voice is stronger than theirs. Don’t let a few try to define the identity of an entire region.”
Rijiju’s remarks come amid efforts to further strengthen security and grassroots governance in the Union Territory, where panchayati raj institutions and community-led development are becoming vital pillars of change.
