Jammu, January 17,2026- The Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) has witnessed a significant rise in the registration of doctors, indicating steady growth in the medical workforce across the Union Territory. Officials said the surge reflects increasing confidence among medical professionals to practice in Jammu and Kashmir and points to positive developments in the healthcare sector.
Sources in the J&K Medical Council said the rise includes registrations of newly qualified doctors as well as practitioners returning from other states to work in government and private healthcare institutions. This trend is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the region.
Health authorities attributed the increase in doctor registrations to the opening of new medical colleges, expansion of district and sub-district hospitals, and simplified online registration procedures introduced by the Medical Council. Improved transparency, policy reforms, and better working conditions for doctors have also contributed to the upward trend.
Officials noted that the growing number of registered doctors will help improve doctor-patient ratios, enhance emergency and specialized services, and support the government’s efforts to upgrade primary and tertiary healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Healthcare experts said the surge in registrations is a positive indicator for public health outcomes and reflects the strengthening of medical infrastructure in the Union Territory. The J&K Medical Council continues to regulate medical practice to ensure professional standards and quality healthcare services for the people.
