Srinagar, February 19,2026- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness and arrangements for the 6th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games, scheduled to be held in the world-famous ski resort of Gulmarg.
During a high-level meeting with officials from the Sports Council, district administration, tourism, police, health, and other line departments, the Div Com assessed logistical planning, infrastructure readiness, security measures, accommodation facilities, and transportation arrangements for athletes and visitors.
Focus on Infrastructure & Safety
Officials briefed the meeting on preparations at key venues, including ski slopes and snowboarding tracks. Emphasis was laid on ensuring international-standard facilities, smooth conduct of competitions, and safety protocols for participants.
The Div Com directed concerned departments to maintain close coordination and ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, proper snow clearance, medical facilities, emergency response systems, and seamless traffic management during the event.
Boost to Winter Sports & Tourism
The Khelo India Winter Games have significantly positioned Gulmarg as a premier winter sports destination in the country. The upcoming edition is expected to attract athletes from across India competing in skiing, snowboarding, and other winter disciplines.
Officials noted that the mega sporting event not only promotes winter sports but also boosts tourism, hospitality, and local employment in the region.
Ensuring Smooth Conduct
Security agencies were instructed to put in place comprehensive arrangements to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the games. Accommodation and hospitality arrangements for athletes, officials, and tourists were also reviewed in detail.
The Div Com emphasized that all departments must work in synergy to make the 6th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games a grand success, showcasing Kashmir’s capability to host national-level sporting events in challenging winter conditions.
