Baramulla, November 27: The District Administration Baramulla today organized a Mega Kisan Mela at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Pattan, aimed at empowering farmers by providing them with valuable insights into modern agricultural practices, government schemes, and innovative technologies. The event served as a dynamic platform for farmers to engage with experts from the agriculture, horticulture, and allied sectors, helping them enhance their farming practices and improve productivity.
The Kisan Mela was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, in the presence of Chief Planning Officer, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pattan, SDM Uri, Chief Horticulture Officer, CEO, and other senior district officers. The mela saw a remarkable turnout, with farmers from across Baramulla district eager to explore new agricultural techniques and resources aimed at boosting economic growth in the region.
During his address, DC Minga Sherpa highlighted that the event was designed to equip farmers with the tools and knowledge necessary to adopt modern farming methods, increase crop yields, and enhance their income. “The Kisan Mela serves as an important platform for farmers to access information about government welfare schemes, efficient farming techniques, and high-yield crop varieties,” said the DC. He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting the farming community by providing the necessary resources for sustainable agricultural growth.
As part of the event, the Deputy Commissioner toured the various stalls set up by departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, and other allied sectors. These stalls showcased innovative farming tools, high-quality fertilizers, efficient farming techniques, and the latest agricultural technologies.
In addition, the DC distributed sanction letters, appreciation certificates, and other awards to deserving farmers and beneficiaries, recognizing their contributions to the agricultural sector and offering them further support to enhance their agricultural practices.
