Shopian, April 25, 2025 — The District Industries Centre (DIC) Shopian, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, organized an awareness-cum-outreach program at the Industrial Training Institute Shopian on Friday. The event, aimed at bolstering the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem, drew participation from over 150 beneficiaries across diverse sectors, including handicrafts, handloom, agriculture, and entrepreneurship trainees.
The program was attended by senior officials, including the General Manager of DIC Shopian, Lead District Manager Shopian, Block Development Officer, District Nodal Officer of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Shopian, and Superintendent of ITI Shopian. Representatives from the Departments of Handicrafts, Banks, and other DIC Shopian officials also contributed to the event’s success.
The inaugural session focused on sensitizing participants about the importance of Udyam Registration, a key step for MSMEs to access government schemes and enhance business growth. A detailed presentation outlined the registration process, its benefits, and available support systems under RAMP, a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at improving MSME access to finance, markets, and technology. Speakers, including the General Manager DIC Shopian and Lead Bank Manager, emphasized leveraging flagship government schemes to scale enterprises and foster innovation.
The event featured an interactive session where officials addressed participants’ queries, reinforcing DIC Shopian’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable MSME development in the district. Beneficiaries, including NRLM members, EDI trainees, ITI pass-outs, and MSME entrepreneurs, were encouraged to formalize their businesses and tap into opportunities for technological upgradation and market expansion.
The RAMP initiative, backed by the Ministry of MSME, seeks to address challenges faced by MSMEs, particularly in the wake of COVID-19, by enhancing competitiveness, promoting green technologies, and fostering employment generation. The Shopian program aligns with Jammu and Kashmir’s broader efforts to strengthen its MSME sector, with the region allocated ₹74.03 crore under RAMP to support such initiatives.
