Srinagar, March 19, 2025 – Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, chaired his maiden public grievance redressal programme today at the Police Control Room Kashmir, marking a significant step toward fostering trust and collaboration between the police and the public. The session, held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, provided a platform for citizens to directly share concerns, suggestions, and expectations with the state’s top police official.
The initiative, announced earlier this week, reflects the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s commitment to becoming more approachable and people-centric. “We are here to serve, and we want to ensure our approach is effective and inclusive,” DGP Prabhat reportedly emphasised during the programme. Senior police officials noted that this engagement aims to address pressing community issues, including security concerns and the growing menace of drug abuse, which the DGP has previously highlighted as a priority.
Citizens from across the Kashmir Valley attended the session, raising diverse grievances ranging from local law enforcement challenges to broader welfare needs. The programme underscores the police’s dedication to maintaining law and order while ensuring minimal inconvenience to law-abiding residents. “This is about hearing directly from the people and building a stronger bond,” a police spokesperson said.
Since assuming office in September 2024, DGP Nalin Prabhat has focused on enhancing public engagement and tackling key issues like drug trafficking and security threats. Today’s event at PCR Kashmir is seen as a continuation of that mission, with officials reaffirming their resolve to make the police force more responsive to the needs of Jammu and Kashmir.
The grievance redressal programme concluded with the DGP assuring attendees that their feedback would be reviewed and addressed promptly, signaling a new chapter in police-public relations in the region.
