Jammu, November 25: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary emphasized the importance of creating awareness about various labour welfare schemes to ensure that their benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Addressing a meeting to review the functioning of the Labour Department, Choudhary stressed the need for better dissemination of information to improve access to these schemes.
The meeting, attended by Labour Commissioner Charandeep Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Assistant Labour Commissioners of Jammu division, and other officers, focused on strategies to enhance public awareness. Choudhary urged officers to organize regular awareness camps across Jammu division, ensuring that the camps are comprehensive and encourage active participation from stakeholders. “These camps should not only inform workers about the benefits of these schemes but also educate them on the processes for availing these benefits,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to conduct regular inspections of business establishments and ongoing mega projects to safeguard workers’ welfare. He emphasized that any violations should be dealt promptly and without leniency. Additionally, Choudhary called for regular feedback from industrial estates on working conditions, ensuring that any issues are addressed efficiently.
Earlier, Choudhary met with several deputations from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, who raised their concerns and sought immediate solutions. The Deputy Chief Minister assured them of the government’s commitment to resolving their issues in a time-bound manner.
