Jammu, December 1, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today inaugurated the One-Day Conference-cum-Workshop on “Empowered Labour Force: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities” at the Convention Centre, Jammu. The event, organised by the Labour & Employment Department, focuses on strengthening labour welfare and facilitating the smooth implementation of the new Labour Codes across the Union Territory.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Choudhary emphasised the importance of an empowered and skilled workforce in driving economic growth and ensuring sustainable development. He highlighted that the new Labour Codes are designed to streamline labour regulations, improve working conditions, and promote the welfare of employees across sectors.
The conference brought together representatives from government departments, employers, trade unions, and experts in labour laws to discuss key challenges and opportunities in implementing the codes effectively. Sessions included policy briefings, interactive discussions, and capacity-building workshops to enhance understanding of labour rights, compliance mechanisms, and welfare initiatives.
“The welfare and empowerment of workers is at the core of our developmental agenda. This workshop will help in translating policy into practice, ensuring that labour reforms benefit every worker in Jammu and Kashmir,” Deputy CM Choudhary said.
Officials from the Labour & Employment Department noted that the conference also aims to create a platform for knowledge-sharing, where best practices in labour welfare and employment generation can be discussed and adopted across industries in the UT.
The workshop forms part of a broader strategy by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to strengthen labour welfare systems, skill development programs, and industrial compliance, thereby fostering an environment conducive to both employers and employees.
The event was attended by senior government officials, industry representatives, trade union leaders, and other stakeholders, reflecting the collective commitment towards worker empowerment and sustainable industrial growth in the region.
