DEO Poonch hosts spectacular Kite Flying Event to motivate, involve Young Voters

POONCH, AUGUST 25: In a unique initiative to inspire young voters and connect them with their cultural traditions, the District Election Officer (DEO) Poonch, Vikas Kundal organised a vibrant kite-flying event today at the Sports Stadium Poonch.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of young people from across the district, all eager to participate in this traditional activity while learning more about their electoral responsibilities.
District Election Officer Vikas Kundal along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tahir Mustafa Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Qadeer ul Rehman and other officials, graced the occasion.
Their presence at the event served as a strong motivator for the young participants, emphasising the importance of their role in the democratic process.
In his address, Vikas Kundal highlighted the significance of youth participation in elections: “The youth are the backbone of our democracy. Their active involvement not only strengthens the democratic fabric of our nation but also ensures that their voices are heard. By engaging in such cultural activities, we aim to remind them of their roots while also encouraging them to take their responsibilities as voters seriously.”
The district administration has undertaken various measures to ensure a smooth and inclusive electoral process. Special Pink polling booths, exclusively managed by women staff, have been established to encourage female voters. Additionally, green polling booths have been set up to promote environmental consciousness. Notably, certain polling booths will be entirely managed by young voters, a move aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership among the youth.
Vikas Kundal added, “We believe that by involving the youth in the election process in such an integral way, we can instill in them a sense of pride and responsibility towards their civic duties. The kite-flying event is just one of many initiatives we are taking to connect with our young voters and ensure their active participation in the upcoming elections.”
