Natural disasters strike without warning, leaving behind devastation and loss. The recent cloudburst in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir claimed lives and caused extensive damage, prompting large-scale rescue and relief efforts. To personally assess the situation and support the victims, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, visited Government Medical College, Jammu.
During the visit, the Defence Minister and the Lieutenant Governor met those injured in the calamity and interacted with their families. They inquired about the health and well-being of the patients, assuring them that both the Central and Union Territory administrations are committed to extending every possible support. Their presence offered a sense of comfort and reassurance to the affected families during this difficult time.
Rajnath Singh praised the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of Jammu Medical College for their tireless dedication in providing timely treatment to the injured. He stressed that the Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is determined to ensure effective relief and rehabilitation measures for all victims. Manoj Sinha also reaffirmed the UT administration’s commitment to stand firmly with the affected communities and provide all necessary assistance for their recovery.
The Defence Minister and the Lieutenant Governor jointly reviewed the ongoing rescue and recovery operations being carried out by the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and J&K Police. Their coordinated efforts have been crucial in mitigating the impact of the tragedy and extending timely aid to survivors.
The Kishtwar cloudburst has left deep scars, displacing families and disrupting livelihoods. However, the combined efforts of Central and UT leadership, along with dedicated rescue and medical teams, underline the seriousness with which the disaster is being addressed.
