DC Srinagar reviews SKIMS infrastructure, traffic management

Srinagar, January 1,2026-The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, along with the Director Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), conducted a spot review of ongoing infrastructure upgradation and developmental requirements of the premier healthcare institute to enhance patient care and service delivery.

During the inspection, the officials assessed the status of hospital buildings, medical facilities, patient amenities, power and water supply, and other critical infrastructure. Emphasis was laid on addressing gaps and expediting works aimed at improving the overall functioning of the institute.

The DC and Director SKIMS also reviewed traffic decongestion measures in and around the SKIMS campus to ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of patients, ambulances, and attendants. Directions were issued to concerned departments for better traffic regulation, parking management, signage installation, and coordination with the Traffic Police.

Officials stressed the need for time-bound execution of developmental works and effective implementation of traffic management plans to reduce congestion, particularly during peak hours.

The visit reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Srinagar and ensuring accessible, patient-friendly medical services at one of Jammu and Kashmir’s major tertiary healthcare institutions.
