Srinagar, August 23: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, chaired the 2nd District Level Committee (DLC) meeting at the DC Office Complex to review and approve applications under the Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP). The meeting primarily focused on enhancing farming competitiveness and building resilience in agriculture across Srinagar district.
Approval of Applications under JKCIP
During the meeting, the DLC thoroughly reviewed applications from various sectors including Agriculture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry, and Sericulture. After detailed deliberations, several cases were approved under the project, aimed at boosting farm productivity, quality produce, and employment generation in the district.
DC Srinagar highlighted that the JKCIP initiative is designed to ensure a sustained increase in household incomes by strengthening farming operations, improving competitiveness, and enhancing resilience against climate change. He directed all departments to implement the scheme in mission mode, ensuring transparency and timely execution of projects.
Integration with Banks and Daksh Kisan Portal
Calling for seamless coordination, the DC urged banks to integrate their processes with the JKCIP portal to streamline service delivery. He stressed swift approvals, timely sanctioning of cases, clearing of pending applications, and enhanced enrolments on the Daksh Kisan portal to facilitate farmer benefits.
He further emphasized the importance of priority sector lending, directing banks and implementing agencies to provide hassle-free support to beneficiaries.
Review of Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP)
Alongside JKCIP, the DC also reviewed the progress of the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) in Srinagar. He called for inter-departmental coordination, robust implementation strategies, and regular evaluations to maximize the scheme’s impact on agriculture growth and job creation in the district.
