DC Srinagar Akshay Labroo and SMC commissioner review PMAY-Urban 2.0 progress

Srinagar, June 26, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner, Faz Lul Haseeb, jointly chaired a comprehensive meeting to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) in Srinagar district. Held at the DC Office Complex, the meeting focused on ensuring swift, transparent, and accurate implementation of the housing scheme to benefit the urban poor and homeless population of Srinagar.The session, attended by key officials including Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Joint Commissioner (Administration) Nuzhat Khurshid, and representatives from the J&K Housing Board and Revenue Department, aimed to evaluate the status of beneficiary registration and verification processes. DC Labroo and Commissioner Haseeb directed SMC and Revenue officers to expedite case disposals while maintaining utmost transparency and accuracy in beneficiary selection to ensure no eligible individual is overlooked.

A key emphasis was placed on seamless interdepartmental coordination to streamline the verification process and ensure timely delivery of housing benefits. The Joint Commissioner SMC provided a detailed briefing on the current execution status of PMAY-U 2.0 in Srinagar, highlighting efforts to include vulnerable groups, such as women-headed households, to foster inclusive urban housing development.
