UDHAMPUR, JULY 30: In a focused effort to strengthen the implementation of clean energy initiatives, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and to explore the development of model solar villages in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Executive Engineer JPDCL, empanelled vendors, and other concerned officials.
Executive Engineer JPDCL presented a detailed report on the status of the scheme, highlighting the total number of applications received, vendor allotments made, pending cases, and installations completed so far. The DC engaged directly with vendors to understand the bottlenecks and challenges affecting timely implementation.
DC Saloni Rai emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and inter-agency coordination, especially between JPDCL and the vendors, to bridge gaps in vendor allocation and expedite installations. She urged stakeholders to adopt a citizen-centric and proactive approach and directed them to boost public awareness campaigns to encourage maximum participation in the scheme.
Expressing commitment from the district administration, the DC assured vendors of all necessary support and urged them to accelerate work on pending solar connections.
As part of a broader vision for sustainable energy development, the DC also discussed the identification and development of model solar villages. She instructed concerned officers to identify suitable villages with high potential for solar adoption to roll out the initiative in a meaningful and impactful way.
The review meeting marks a strong push by the administration towards achieving green energy goals under the flagship PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, ensuring benefits reach grassroots households in a timely and efficient manner.
