DC reviews action plan for establishing drug de-addiction centre in Udhampur

Udhampur, November 29, 2024 — A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai to discuss the action plan for establishing a drug de-addiction centre in the district. The centre will be set up under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) through the District Red Cross Society.

A detailed discussion was held regarding the various aspects of the centre’s establishment, including infrastructure requirements, necessary facilities, and logistical arrangements to ensure its smooth and effective operation.

DC Saloni Rai emphasized the importance of prioritizing counseling and motivational support for individuals battling drug addiction. She also instructed the officers to submit regular progress reports on the initiatives undertaken. Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to organize recreational activities aimed at rehabilitating and engaging drug addicts as part of the recovery process.

The officers were directed to expedite the identification of a suitable location for the centre. DC Rai also highlighted the need for collaboration with NGOs to ensure the successful implementation and sustainable operation of the de-addiction centre.
