Kulgam, May 30,2026- Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, on Friday reviewed preparations for the upcoming anti-drug padyatra to be led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, a flagship campaign aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-ground inspection of key locations and assessed arrangements related to security, sanitation, traffic management, healthcare facilities, drinking water, and other logistical requirements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Senior officers from the district administration and police department accompanied the DC during the review. Officials discussed measures to facilitate the participation of students, youth groups, civil society members, and local residents in the awareness march.
The padyatra forms part of the broader Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign launched to combat drug abuse and promote a healthy, addiction-free society. The initiative seeks to engage communities, educational institutions, and stakeholders in creating awareness about the social and health consequences of narcotics.
During the review, Shahzad Alam emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among departments to ensure that the event is conducted successfully and serves as an effective platform for spreading the message against drug addiction.
The Lieutenant Governor-led padyatra is expected to witness large public participation and reinforce the administration’s commitment to building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir through awareness, prevention, and community engagement.
