KULGAM, DECEMBER 10: In a bid to enhance road safety across the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, chaired a crucial meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Mini Secretariat, Kulgam. The meeting focused on reviewing current road safety initiatives and devising future strategies to improve road conditions and reduce accidents.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review was conducted of ongoing projects and action plans aimed at addressing road safety concerns. Key topics included the implementation of the Road Safety Act, the rectification of black spots, installation of crash barriers, and the placement of road signage, among other safety measures.
The DC took stock of the progress made on tasks assigned during previous meetings, with various officers providing updates on the actions taken to mitigate traffic violations and improve road safety in the district.
Emphasizing the need for strict enforcement, Athar Aamir Khan directed authorities to intensify traffic rule enforcement and impose penal action against violators. He also called for large-scale awareness campaigns, particularly by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and other stakeholders, to educate the public about road safety.
The DC further instructed the removal of roadside encroachments to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance safety. He emphasized the immediate rectification of pending black spots and the identification of new ones, ensuring the installation of essential safety measures such as crash barriers and road signages.
The meeting saw active participation from committee members who deliberated on strategies to curb traffic violations, implement traffic calming measures, and reduce road accidents.
