Kulgam ,July 24, 2025– In a major push toward improving foundational learning, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), launched the “Classes of Joy” initiative aimed at bridging learning gaps among students in primary and middle schools across the district.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Pratham Foundation, a leading non-profit organization in the field of education. The program focuses on helping students regain basic competencies in literacy and numeracy, which were severely impacted due to prolonged school closures during the pandemic and other learning disruptions.
Speaking at the launch, DC Kulgam emphasized that the initiative is designed to create a joyful learning environment that encourages participation, curiosity, and foundational skill-building among children. “Our goal is to ensure that no child is left behind. This partnership with Pratham will bring innovative learning methods directly into the classrooms,” he said.
“Classes of Joy” will be rolled out in phases across government primary and middle schools in Kulgam, involving teacher training, interactive sessions, and continuous academic assessments to track student progress.
This initiative aligns with the broader goals of improving student learning outcomes and ensuring equity in education across Jammu and Kashmir.
