DC Kulgam announces full readiness for upcoming elections

In Kulgam district, preparations for the upcoming election are in full swing, with the dispatch centre located at degree College’s overseeing the process. The dispatch work, nearing completion, involves distributing EVMs and other necessary materials to all parties. The entire process is expected to conclude within the next few hours, ensuring that all items needed for the poll parties’ departure are in place. As election day approaches, DC Kulgam urges all eligible voters to exercise their democratic right. Voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm, and a high voter turnout is anticipated, highlighting the significance of every single vote. The expectation is for impactful voting, which will contribute significantly to the democratic process. Kulgam district comprises 364 polling stations, where meticulous arrangements have been made to facilitate smooth voting. Each station is equipped with essential amenities such as drinking water, washrooms, and rest areas. Additionally, wheelchairs have been provided at every polling station, particularly where two stations are located together, to assist those with mobility challenges. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam stated that there are three model polling stations in each assembly segment, designated to exemplify ideal polling conditions. Some of these stations are managed exclusively by women officers, promoting an inclusive and empowering environment. Moreover, green polling booths have been established where voters are encouraged to plant a sapling after casting their vote, symbolising growth and environmental consciousness. Special attention has been given to the transportation needs of differently-abled individuals, ensuring they can reach polling stations comfortably. Comprehensive security arrangements have also been made to guarantee the safety and smooth functioning of the election process. DC Kulgam emphasised that all preparations have been completed, and the administration calls on everyone to participate actively in the election. By casting their votes, citizens can make a substantial contribution to their community and the democratic process at large.
