DC Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri extends greetings on Shab-e-Qadr and Jummat Ul Vida

SRINAGAR, March 27, 2025 – The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the region on the auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr and Jummat Ul Vida, two significant religious observances in the Islamic calendar. In a message delivered on Thursday, March 27, he expressed his hopes for peace, unity, and prosperity across Kashmir.

In his address, Bidhuri emphasised the importance of communal harmony and brotherhood, praying that these sacred occasions foster stronger bonds among different communities. “Shab-e-Qadr and Jummat Ul Vida are times of reflection and devotion. I pray for peace and prosperity to prevail in our region, uniting us all in the spirit of togetherness,” he said.

Alongside his greetings, the Divisional Commissioner issued directives to ensure a seamless experience for the public during these observances. He instructed all Deputy Commissioners across Kashmir to prioritize the uninterrupted supply of essential services, including electricity and water supply, to facilitate devotees and residents alike. “It is our responsibility to ensure that the general public faces no inconvenience during these holy days,” Bidhuri stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to supporting the community.

The directive comes as part of a broader effort to maintain the smooth functioning of critical infrastructure during religious events. With Shab-e-Qadr, known as the Night of Power, and Jummat Ul Vida, the last Friday of Ramadan, drawing large gatherings for prayers and reflection, the availability of electricity and water supply is deemed essential to accommodate the needs of worshippers at mosques and shrines across the valley.

Local authorities have been urged to coordinate with relevant departments, including the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, to prevent disruptions. Bidhuri’s proactive approach reflects the administration’s focus on ensuring that essential services remain operational, particularly during peak times of religious significance.

Residents of Srinagar and surrounding areas have welcomed the Commissioner’s greetings and the accompanying measures. “It’s reassuring to know that the administration is taking steps to support us during Shab-e-Qadr and Jummat Ul Vida. These are important days for us, and having reliable electricity and water supply makes a big difference,” said Aijaz Ahmad, a local from Hazratbal.

As Kashmir prepares to observe these revered occasions, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri’s message and actions highlight a blend of spiritual goodwill and administrative diligence, aiming to enhance the experience of the faithful while promoting unity and resilience in the region.
