Budgam, January 16: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting at the DC office to review the progress and upcoming plans for the restoration, preservation, and maintenance of heritage sites selected for Phase-1 across the district.

The DC took stock of renovation and upgradation efforts at key heritage sites, including the Charar-i-Sharief shrine, Dia-Nag Temple, Markazi Imambara, Imambara Khumani Chowk in Bemina, and Vasuki-Nag Temple in Wagam.

During the meeting, implementing agencies reported that the first phase of tendering has been completed, and work on all identified projects is expected to begin shortly. The DC emphasized the need for swift execution of these projects once the tenders are finalized.

He stressed the importance of a collaborative approach between all concerned departments to ensure the timely and efficient completion of these restoration initiatives. “These efforts are vital to reviving, preserving, and upgrading our heritage sites. It is essential that we adopt value-based conservation methods that protect both the aesthetic and historical significance of these landmarks,” the DC remarked.

DC Labroo reiterated that the restoration works must reflect the rich cultural and civilizational heritage of Budgam and ensure that these sites are safeguarded for future generations.
