Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir, July 16, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat (IAS), chaired a comprehensive meeting at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to finalize arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day 2025 celebrations. The main event is set to take place at the Sports Stadium in Budgam, with additional functions planned across sub-divisions, blocks, and educational institutions throughout the district.
The meeting focused on ensuring seamless coordination among various departments to facilitate a smooth and festive celebration. Dr. Bilal emphasised the national significance of the event, directing all departments to meticulously plan and execute arrangements. He appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Budgam as the nodal officer to oversee the preparations. Specific directives were issued to ensure operational readiness, including emergency medical services, drinking water facilities, power supply, venue arrangements, and cleanliness.
The Chief Medical Officer was instructed to deploy adequate medical teams and emergency services at all event venues. The Jal Shakti Department was tasked with ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply, while the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) was directed to guarantee a stable power supply. The Roads & Buildings (R&B) and Irrigation departments were assigned responsibilities for venue setup, and the District Information Officer (DIO) was tasked with managing the Public Address System. The Executive Officers of Municipal Committees were directed to maintain cleanliness across all event locations.
Dr. Bilal also urged the Chief Education Officer to organise cultural and patriotic activities to engage youth and students, fostering a sense of patriotism and community involvement. “The celebrations should create an environment of festivity across the district,” he stated, emphasising the importance of public participation in making the events vibrant and inclusive.
The DC called for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure all arrangements are in place well in advance, aiming to make the Independence Day celebrations a grand success. Similar functions will be held at sub-divisional and block levels, as well as in schools, colleges, and government institutions across Budgam, amplifying the festive spirit throughout the district.
